6 Months into this single-mom life, I’m still getting the hang of splitting a full-time job between an off-site office and home.
But, I’m beyond grateful for the flexibility that allows me to work from home during flu season. Or to answer, “I’m on my way” when my son calls me from school, sick.
It’s the flexibility that allows me to work evenings from a beach house in California after a day at the beach with my boys. Or, to support another hard-working single mom by taking their little(s) for the day, without cost.
And though I’m still on duty as Mom after work and school—making dinner, overseeing homework, running baths, doing laundry, and cleaning up—I’m grateful for the opportunity to step into both roles. To both provide for and love on my “little men.”
Let’s be honest though—much of the time it feels like this balancing act is about to go really sideways.
But, in those precious moments together—both planned and unplanned—we hope to tie and twist those threads of the “rope” that will hold us together amidst the chaos.

Over the years and numerous family outings later—both affordable and not-so-affordable—I can tell you with confidence that there are DOZENS of free and simple things you can do with your kids that will bring you together in remarkable and meaningful ways.
Significant moments sprout from seemingly simple ones. A consistent effort to create more of those moments yields a high return.
